I am still alive

I am still alive and around but insanely busy and unmotivated at the same time. I’m off to Melbourne tomorrow for the beginnings of my brother’s wedding festivities and I’ll be blogging as much as I can.

  1. I usually try and eat the whole thing if I can but I don’t kill myself doing it. I like to show that I enjoy it by eating as much as possible, but to be visibly struggling is probably not any better than to just leave some because you are full.

Also, if they see for themselves how much you eat, then perhaps next time they invite you over they’ll give less? Whereas if you eat it all and make out that it’s a normal portion for you, they’ll give the same amount again the next time they have you over and you’ll have to go through the same thing again.

I suppose if you’re really worried about it, you could bring some containers if you’re going to visit people who you know eat in larger portions, so that way, you can say, “This is delicious but I can’t eat any more. But I might take some home so I can eat it later!”

    • I really don’t think it’s the done thing around here to arrive at someone’s house with take home containers. At least I’ve never heard of anyone ever doing that.

I would rather they see how much I eat and give me less next time then to eat too much just to be polite. But perhaps that’s just me.

      • Yeah, I’ve never really done that, either. I was just thinking of a friend of my mum’s who put things into containers for me when I don’t finish her (also very large) servings.

      • Yeah, but that’s different – she’s offering it to you. I think it would be rude to turn up with containers from the beginning.
